The Epidemic of Loneliness

Make your life better.

My mentor sent me and some buddies an article from the Wall Street Journal titled “The Lifelong Power of Close Relationships.” It’s not necessarily stunning information. We are relational beings. What the data show, though, is revealing. We are healthier, more satisfied, and less likely to die if we have close relationships.

The data comes from a decades long study. Here are some of the findings:

  • The one factor that is more important than anything else for health and mental well-being: good relationships.

  • Good relationships help with ups and downs of life.

  • Loneliness is two (2) times more unhealthy in older adults than being overweight.

  • Risk of death increases under chronic loneliness.

*Good relationships = Paramount for a good life*

It struck me. Relationships matter. It’s how I got to in the room with my friend below…

I met with my buddy, Chris Goode, and we talked about his grief over losing his grandma, how she inspired Ruby Jean’s Juicery and his mission, and how servant leadership is paramount to his work and what he wants to pass on to his kids. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I enjoyed having it.

Business Update:

Lots of conversations, still working through our business model. But, it remains true that creating long form content, as we are doing with The Leadership Room, then repurposing it will explode reach. We’ve had a number of our long form conversations that I turned into short form videos now receive thousands of views as a result of our efforts and increasing numbers of subscribers (Although small potatoes, we are up nearly 10% in subscribers in just one week. Not a huge individual number, but it’s working.) People are asking me non-stop about this strategy. It’s working.

We also had several business related discussions. I’m hoping to help with a conference in the fall. And I’m constantly being connected with like minded content creators or folks that may help down the road. Doors are opening. And that’s encouraging.

God bless,

tf
