What I learned week 1

So many conversations. So much to do.

Based on pure potential, we’ve had some encouraging conversations in the last week. Here’s where we are as a media business:

  1. One contract under the belt.

  2. Writing out an RFP for another contract we feel good about.

  3. Have proposals with 3 brands in the works over the next several weeks.

  4. Have had 7 in-person conversations revolving around how to build the business of content creation in just the last week (even though I’m out of town).

  5. I have an email… Please send me an email and tell me where I’m going wrong —> [email protected]

  6. Recorded 3 different podcast episodes, one for my upcoming podcast re-launch (around August 1st) and two for a contract. I hope you’ll listen to the episode I just recorded (when it’s released) with my buddy, John Stroup, who started and runs Freeway Ministries. It’s an hour and 21 minutes long. His story is powerful. He also gave me the shirt and hat below. 🤣🤣🤣 #KnuckleheadUniversity for the win.

  7. Repurposed one long-form video into several Youtube shorts as testers. Was blown away by the reach of short form out the gate for a deeply niche channel. We got over 250 views in the first 24 hours of those 3 short videos, comprised of just over 2 minutes of total video time.

  8. I’m in the process of figuring out how to distribute podcast episodes appropriately across platforms. There are plenty of options, but is it best to just use Anchor.fm’s free version to upload or should I go with a paid podcast hosting service like I used to back in the day? We are going to test.

We are building, but it feels very much like that over-used analogy of building the plane while you’re flying.

In the midst of working hard yet trying to remain true to my faith by walking boldly into this endeavor, I feel like we are on the right track. Clarity is always comforting, but starting a media company provides a limited amount of it. Just have to move the ball forward hour by hour, day by day, week by week.

What would you like to hear about next from me? I can tell you about the studio I built and the products I used to build it out. I always geek out about tech, but that’s not for everyone. I could give you my guide to starting your own podcast from scratch and for very little money. I could also just do a breakdown of the software stack I use. You tell me. What do you wanna hear about next?

God bless,

tf
